Classification of weights

World Health Organization weights are classified according to BMI as follows:

  • weight loss: The BMI is less than 18.5.
  • perfect weight: The BMI is between 18.5 and 25.
  • Increase in weight: BMI is between 25 and 30.
  • Excessive obesity: BMI is more than 30.
It should be noted that some health organizations consider that weight loss occurs if BMI is less than 20 and not 18.5.

Other ways to figure out the amount of body fat

Body Mass Index (BMI) can be replaced more accurately and successfully by measuring and identifying the ideal weight, as well as body fat levels, including: air displacement, body fat measurement, and x-ray. These methods of measuring fat are usually available in the fitness centers and health clinics, and are accurate because of the use of special tools in them, but they are expensive, which makes measuring BMI the best and most appropriate way for all people.
